Currently, Dave teaches guitar at Fraioli School of Music in Greenwich, CT, composes original music, and performs regularly throughout New York as a jazz guitarist.. Dave attended Wichita State University from 1989-1992, where he studied jazz guitar, musicology and composition. While a member of the Jazz Arts I ensemble at WSU, he had the opportunity to perform with Branford Marsalis. He also attended a jazz improvisation workshop with Kenny Kirkland. In 1993, he attended the Naropa Institute Creative Music workshop, where he studied with renowned jazz pianist Cecil Taylor. Dave has 15 years of experience teaching all styles of popular music (rock, blues, funk, acoustic folk, alternative), as well as improvisation, music theory, jazz combo, and electric bass. In 1993-1994, he taught Jazz Guitar Ensemble at Wichita State University. Dave's performance credits include: the Wichita Jazz Festival, 1988 & 2000; the Jefferson City Jazz Festival, 2001; concert appearances with recording artists Barbara Dennerlein (Verve), Amina Claudine Myers (Novus), Gloria Coleman (Impulse), and legendary flutist Herbie Mann. Dave has held steady engagements at many well-known local venues in Kansas City, MO and Wichita, KS. He has also appeared at jazz clubs in Boston, Chicago, Denver, Guadalajara and Minneapolis. In 2003, Dave relocated to New York City. He has performed in venues throughout the area with artists such as Patience Higgins, Eddie Henderson, Hill Greene, Yukako Yamaga, Taeko, and Somi.
